Obituary for Kay Kenney
Kay Francis Kenney was born August 20, 1943 in St. Peter, MN to Frank and Margaret (Barlett) Kenney. She was raised in the Willmar area and attended Willmar public schools. Kay was married to Byron Charles Tjaden on March 10, 1962. Kay and Byron were married for 22 years and were blessed with three children: Brian, Lori, and Jodi.
Attending Wadena Vocational Tech, Kay received her degree as a medical secretary. She was employed at Auto Tri-Co of Wadena and Pine Manor of Nevis, before becoming a nursing assistant at Fair Oaks Lodge of Wadena; Perham Memorial Home and the New York Mills Elder’s Home.
Kay enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, and playing video games with the grandchildren. She truly loved spending time with family and friends and being at the lake. She is preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Kay is survived by her 3 children: Brian (Shea) Tjaden of Wadena; Lori (Dale Larson) Tjaden of Vergas; Jodi (Jim) Wegscheid of Wadena; 6 grandchildren: Joseph (Calyn) Kenyon; Casey Kenyon; Jesse (Amber Hedin) Kenyon; Stephanie (fiancé, Kyle Diederich) Wegscheid; Josh (Samantha Romann) Wegscheid; Colton Huntsman; 4 great-grandchildren: Arlan, Chase & Wenston Kenyon and Timothy Hedin; and a host of friends.
