Obituary for Kathryn Bentley
Kathryn Dorothy Oldenburg was born on December 24, 1934 in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Fred and Anna (Wachlin) Oldenburg. Kathy graduated from the Deer Creek High School with the class of 1953.
On February 19, 1955 Kathy was united in marriage with Marvin Donald Bentley at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Shirley, Donald and Daniel.
Kathy was employed at Deb’s Café and the Dairy Bar in New York Mills and also worked at the Henning Nursing Home. She enjoyed employment and visiting at the New York Mills and Perham V.F.W. and then Rain Soft and ABC Siding & Windows.
Kathy loved flowers, her garden, playing cards and Bingo. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings, Twins and Kentucky Basketball. Most of all, she loved being with family.Â
On January 3, 2018 Kathy passed away peacefully at Perham Health in Perham, Minnesota at 83 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding Kathy in death were her parents; husband, Marvin; siblings: Frieda (Harold) Lehmkuhl; Fred (Betty) Oldenburg; Argonna (James) Spicer; Herb (Josephine) Oldenburg; Alfred (Mable) Oldenburg; Sophie (Sal) Hetland Correia; Ann (John) Brasel; Herman Oldenburg and Edward Oldenburg; brothers-in-law: Jerry Bentley, Rueben Bentley, Roger Stieren and Christopher Zurn.
Kathy is survived by her 3 children: Shirley Quist; Donald Bentley and Daniel (Elaine) Bentley all of New York Mills; grandson, Jeremy (Connie) Vandermay of New York Mills; 3 great-grandchildren: Austin, Bryce and Cora Vandermay all of New York Mills; 2 sisters: Alvina Hetland Stieren of Farmington and Clara Zurn of Moorhead; sisters-in-law: Hazel Bentley of New York Mills; Alice (Clarence) Anderson of New York Mills; Shirlyn Bentley of Pequot Lakes; brothers-in-law: Robert (Marlene) Bentley of Hoyt Lakes and Roger (Georgia) Bentley of New York Mills; many other relatives and a host of friends.
