Obituary for Elda Pikkaraine
Elda Mae (Ackerman) Pikkaraine was born on November 12, 1935 in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Lloyd and Esther (Eggert) Ackerman. Elda and her family moved to Bluffton when Elda was 6 years old. She attended Country School in rural Bluffton. Elda graduated from New York Mills High School with the class of 1953.Â
On June 18, 1955, Elda was united in marriage to Tanie Pikkaraine. Elda and Tanie made their home and resided in Robbinsdale, Minnesota until 1962. Then they moved to the Zimmerman, Minnesota, where they raised their 4 children. On August 7, 1999 Elda and Tanie retired to Wadena. Tanie passed away on May 25, 2011 at their home in Wadena. Elda then made her home in Elk River, Minnesota, to be near her children.
Elda was very family oriented, spending as much time with them as she could. She loved sewing, quilting, gardening, baking and canning.
On December 31, 2017 Elda passed away at her home in Elk River at 82 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Elda in death were her parents; husband: Tanie Pikkaraine.
Elda is survived by her daughters: Diane (Jay) Reynolds of Ramsey; Patricia (Rick) Turn of Bemidji; Cheryl Pikkaraine of Ramsey; son: Darrell (Shari) Pikkaraine of Elk River; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
